SALEM — A new, one-mile stretch of Interstate 93 north is scheduled to open tomorrow, just north of the Exit 1 off-ramp.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced the plans yesterday.
Given the high volume of traffic in that area, the switch to the new section of highway will take place overnight tonight. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the transition.
DOT officials expect work to begin at 7 tonight and be finished by 6 a.m. tomorrow. The opening could be delayed by bad weather.
The Exit 1 northbound off-ramp to Rockingham Park Boulevard won’t change.
This work is part of the $30.5 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 1. The general contractor is Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, Mass.
