---- — SANDOWN — Interim treasurer Bruce Cleveland faces a challenge from two other candidates in next week’s election.
Cleveland, James Devine and Erica Olsen seek election to a two-year term as treasurer. The election is Tuesday.
Cleveland, who heads the Budget Committee, was appointed interim treasurer in January as a replacement for Marie Buckley.
Buckley, re-elected to a three-year term last year, stepped down for personal reasons after serving for treasurer for nearly a decade.
Cleveland said he would like to remain in the position, but must defeat Devine, a longtime public servant, and Olsen. She declined to submit a candidate profile to The Eagle-Tribune.
Devine is well known in town, serving as a state representative, selectman and School Board member. He is in his seventh year as a selectman and served on the School Board for 18 years, including two stints as chairman.
Devine has also been a Republican member of the House of Representatives since 2006.
