Five candidates seeking two Planning Board seats

HAMPSTEAD — Five candidates are competing for two open spots on the Planning Board.

Longtime incumbent Proctor Wentworth is being challenged by Chris Dane, Chad Bennett, Jeff Mackey and Glen Emerson.

Wentworth declined to answer the questionnaire. Emerson did not respond.

Chris Dane

Age: 46

Occupation: Fire captain, land surveyor

Incumbent: No

Elective Experience: None

What is the most important issue facing the Planning Board? Adopting a complete master plan for Hampstead. Having this would open up a new world of possibilities for the town’s future needs.

Chad Bennett

Age: 34

Occupation: Owner of excavation company

Incumbent: No

Elective experience: None

What is the most important issue facing the Planning Board? I feel the direction Hampstead is headed in is jeopardizing many of our town’s best qualities. We need to preserve what makes our town special.

Jeff Mackey

Age: 27

Occupation: Buildings and Grounds Department in Hampstead

Incumbent: No

Elective experience: Cemetery Trustee

What is the most important issue facing the Planning Board? Being a young, educated, lifelong resident, I want to give back to this great town and bring a younger generation’s ideas to the table.
