New catalog for Kelley Library

SALEM — Kelley Library launches a new online catalog today.

The new system will allow readers to keep track of the books they have read. It also will allow readers to view what books are on order for the library and reserve them, and provide book lists, including best-sellers.

The library's online system has been down since Aug. 21 while the switch was made to the new system.

The library's online catalog has more than 500,000 books and more than 1 million items total. The catalog can be accessed on the library's Web site: Salem.lib.nh.us

Kindergarten open house in Derry today

DERRY, N.H. | The Derry schools hold open house for kindergarten and first-grade today from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Children and parents from all grades are invited to visit.

Old Home Day celebration kicks off with road race

PELHAM, N.H. | The 102nd Annual Pelham Old Home Day celebration will start with a 5K road race and an all-day auction the morning of Sept. 6.

The road race will get the day's activities rolling at 8:30 a.m., followed by the action at 9 a.m.

The daylong celebration, which will be held on the grounds of the First Congregational Church on Main Street, will also include craft booths, a doll and bike parade, food and entertainment, a penny sale, a grand parade at 2:30 p.m. and a chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m.

Kelley Library seeks new assistant director

SALEM, N.H. | Kelley Library is accepting applications for a new assistant director.

The library is seeking an experienced candidate who will execute library policies and help operate the day-to-day functions of the library. The candidate should have a master's degree from an ALA-accredited program.
