Derry goblins celebrate early

DERRY — Halloween comes early to downtown Derry.

The Parks and Recreation Department hosts a “spooktacular” costume parade and contest at 11 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Hall Gymnasium, 31 West Broadway for children up to age 12. Prizes will be awarded.

From noon to 3 p.m., it’s downtown trick-or-treat at participating businesses, wrapping up from 2 to 3 p,m, at Hood Commons Plaza.

Free seminar offers energy-saving tips

DERRY — The Derry Energy and Environmental Advisory Committee is sponsoring a free seminar Saturday to teach participants simple ways to save energy and money next heating season by reducing heat loss due to air infiltration, inefficient windows and poor attic insulation

The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Derry Public Library, 64 East Broadway.

Armenian Church hosts Shopping Expo

HAVERHILL, Mass. — The Women’s Guild of the Hye Pointe Armenian Church in Haverhill will hold a pre-holiday Shopping Expo on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church hall at 110 Main St.

Each table will offer a raffle item. Admission is $5; complimentary coffee and pastry will be served. All proceeds benefit the church building fund.

Benefit will help Family Promise

ATKINSON — Children will take the stage Saturday, Nov. 9, to perform and help raise money for Family Promise of Greater Rockingham County.

The event, “An Evening of Thanks & Giving,” begins at 7 p.m. at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive.
