Testing clears Cobbetts Pond

WINDHAM — New tests by both the state and town showed acceptable levels of fecal bacteria at Cobbetts Pond, so the town beach will stay open, recreation coordinator Cheryl Haas said yesterday.

The state and town issued advisories about an elevated level in state testing earlier this week, but officials did not close the town beach. Prior town testing had shown no problem.

The beach will be closed Monday for milfoil removal.
