---- — SALEM — A Fisk School student received minor injuries this afternoon when a truck struck a school bus at the intersection of South Policy Street and Woodlawn Terrace.

The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. when the bus carrying 23 elementary school students was rear-ended, according to Salem fire Capt. Stephane Cattin.

The young girl, accompanied by a parent, was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry to be evaluated, he said. No one else on the bus was seriously hurt.

The driver of the flatbed pickup was issued a summons for having defective equipment and for following the bus too closely, police Lt. Robert Morin. The truck had a bald tire, he said.

While the truck received substantial front-end damage, there was little damage to the bus, Morin said.

The names of the student and two drivers were not available.

The bus was bringing students home at the time of the crash, Cattin said.
