DERRY— A dog was pulled out of the water by a firefighter after it fell through the ice yesterday. The dog ran away from 4 Eastview Road and into a marshy area behind the home.
“We’re always ready to go in after animals,” Derry Battallion Chief Mike Gagnon said. ““It’s better we do it than people go in themselves.”
Gagnon said firefighter Chris Beldin went into the water with a rescue line and was able to save the dog in just five minutes.
“It was quick and efficient,” Gagnon said.
The dog’s owner declined comment when reached at his home yesterday.
