Windham skatepark to remain closed

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — WINDHAM — Selectmen, as expected, voted unanimously, 5-0, this week to keep the skatepark closed.

Officials last September shut the skatepark in Griffin Park because of problems with skaters that included profanity, littering and refusal to wear helmets.

Selectmen gave proponents the chance to come up with a plan to supervise skaters and keep it open, but none emerged over the winter as the board requested.

Selectmen have directed recreation coordinator Cheryl Haas to remove and store the skatepark equipment.

There’s a possibility a skatepark might one day return. The board asked Haas to confer with proponents to consider alternative locations.
