MooreMart has sent nearly 70K care packages

At the end of May, MooreMart volunteers met at the Nashua National Guard Armory to collect donated supplies, then pack and ship care packages to members of the U.S. armed services serving in the Middle East.

MooreMart volunteers packed and shipped 1,363 care packages at the Nashua Armory.

The care packages were shipped to members of the armed services from New Hampshire serving in the Middle East, to members of the armed services from throughout the United States serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, to veterans in transition staying at Liberty House in Manchester, Buckingham Place and Dalianis House in Nashua, as well as the Veterans Hospital in Manchester.

MooreMart also shipped care packages to the Chaplain’s Office to be distributed to orphanages throughout Iraq and Afghanistan and to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office in Iraq and Afghanistan, to be distributed to any serviceman or woman who arrived in the Middle East without support from home.

The most recent packing event brings the total number of care packages shipped by MooreMart to 63,933 and Humanitarian Aid to Schools and Orphanages in Iraq and Afghanistan to 8.3 tons.

MooreMart volunteers were joined by members of Comcast, UniFirst, Walgreens, Bank of America and The Disney Store.

Comcast volunteers through their Day of Giving Program donated 1,370 pre-packed care packages to MooreMart which enabled MooreMart to extend its outreach program to a number of servicemen and women serving in remotes bases throughout Afghanistan.

MooreMart’s next packing event will be hosted by the New Hampshire National Guard at the National Guard Armory in Nashua Aug. 14-16
