Derry Chamber director takes new job

DERRY — The head of the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is leaving her job.

Stacey Bruzzese announced Monday she is resigning as executive director of the local Chamber and will head the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce.

Her last day on the job is July 3.

Bruzzese became the executive director in September 2012, replacing former director Gina Gulino-Payne.

She was chosen from a field of about a dozen applicants for the top job.

Bruzzese came on board as a full-time Chamber director, a change from the previous director, who worked fewer hours.

She said she is proud of her time in Derry and Londonderry. She said the Chamber has made great strides in membership numbers and programs.

Under Bruzzese's tenure, the Chamber has grown to include almost 300 members.

"I think we have done so many great things," she said. "We've been able to turn this Chamber around and we are energizing our members."

That includes putting more opportunities, networking and business programs in place for members and the community. The Chamber has become a well respected organization, Bruzzese said.

"She's done a fantastic job," said Lauren Neves, vice president of the Chamber's board of directors.

Neves said Bruzzese helped the Chamber began many new initiatives and programs, including a new Young Professionals program, a Chamber 101 series and a Brown Bag Lunch series.

The local Chamber also continued its many business/community efforts, including new business launches, civic projects like the Greater Derry Holiday Parade, Business After Hours and special events.

More businesses are interested in joining, Neves said.

"Businesses are just flocking to the Chamber now," she said.

The Chamber's membership represents Derry, Londonderry, Manchester, Windham, Chester, Auburn, Atkinson and Hampstead.

The organization supports economic development forums throughout its membership area and also presents annual awards to the top citizen and business in the Derry and Londonderry area.

Bruzzese said she would offer the Chamber support as it begins a new search to find a director.
