State police: Man drowns in Lake Winnipesaukee

GILFORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police say a 27-year-old Massachusetts man has drowned in Lake Winnipesaukee.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Monday.

State police say their marine patrol received a 911 call reporting that lifeguards at Ellacoya State Park were performing CPR on an unresponsive man.

A lifeguard recovered the man, Oscar Hernandez Gonzalez of Boston, in water that was about 7 feet deep.

Guards continued performing CPR until marine patrol officers and Gilford fire and rescue officers arrived.

Gonzalez was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
