DERRY — Police arrested an Abbott Street man on simple assault and threatening charges following a search Tuesday.
Anthony Plourde, 18, of 6 Abbott St. was captured that evening while walking on Crystal Avenue, Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas said yesterday.
Officers from Derry and Salem and a police K-9 began searching for Plourde on Abbott Street about 11 a.m. without success. Plourde was later found about 8:30 p.m., Thomas said.
Police would not say at the time if they were looking for a criminal suspect or a missing person.
Thomas declined to discuss the incident in depth, but later said it involved a domestic dispute between two men and the public was not at risk.
Plourde fled when police were called and later texted a family member, saying he planned to hurt himself, Thomas said.
No one was else was threatened and no weapons were involved, he said.
Plourde was being held yesterday at the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, Thomas said. A court date has not been set.
