Windham business workshop planned next week

WINDHAM — Michelle McManus, owner of Benchmark Office Systems, will lead a workshop, “Marketing on A Dime for Small Businesses,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 21.

The workshop will be held at Windham Cooperative Kindergarten and Nursery School at 2 Industrial Drive.

Deadline loomsfor scholarship applications

SALEM — The Salem Democratic Town Committee reminds high school seniors residing in Salem that the deadline to apply for their $500 college scholarship is March 29.

The Fran Brennan Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving graduating senior from Salem. Students graduating this year from any high school or home school program who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall is encouraged to apply.

The scholarship will be awarded based upon academic performance, extracurricular activities, financial need and a 500-word essay.

The scholarship winner will be announced at the Salem Democratic Committee’s Spring Breakfast May 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church in Salem. Proceeds support the scholarship fund.

Plaistow Lions hold food drive Saturday

PLAISTOW —The Plaistow Lions Club hopes to fill the shelves at Holy Angels Food pantry. Members will hold a food drive Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Timberlane Plate Glass, 108 Main St.

The Lions will accept nonperishable food donations, all of which will go directly to the pantry.

Gear up for fishing season

NEWTON — Recycle fishing equipment Saturday at a Fisherman’s Shop and Swap, hosted by the Country Pond Fish & Game.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 82 Pond St. General admission is $3, free for those under 16.

An 8-foot table rents for $5 for anyone with items to sell.
