Motorcyclist strikes pickup in Kingston

KINGSTON — A motorcyclist was seriously injured and airlifted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston yesterday afternoon after he collided with a pickup truck on Route 125, state police said.

Frank Shedd, 60, of Hampton, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson. The 2001 Ford F150 pickup was operated by Jeffrey Dalton, 20, of Groveland.

Dalton was transported to Exeter Hospital as a precaution.

The crash happened at 2:26 p.m. in front of the Swings and Things business. The motorcycle was traveling southbound while the pickup truck was headed in the opposite direction.

The pickup truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided, state police said. Due to the seriousness of the crash, the State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Unit was called in to investigate.

The collision caused that area of Route 125 to be closed for about 2 1/2 hours. Alternate routes were set up for other drivers.

The crash is still under investigation. The following agencies assisted the state police: the Kingston Police and Fire departments, Plaistow police and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department.
