ATKINSON — The town of Atkinson has showcased some of the most spectacular gardens in Southern New Hampshire.
Each year, throughout the months of May through September, the Atkinson Garden Club strives to recognize these gardeners with its Garden of the Month Award. Last year’s recipients included Jeanette and Albert Leseigne, 7 Willow Vale; Marta and Stephen Fabbrucci, 6 Merrill Drive; Estelle Halchak and Jake Lord, 16 Pine Knoll Drive; Donna Leone, 38 Coventry Lane; and Susan Alliette and Dana Anderson, 17 Hickory Pond Lane.
Now that the budding and blooming season is upon us, the club’s Garden of the Month Committee, led by Sheri Turell along with Catherine Persson, Janet Snowdon and Brenda Weber, is requesting that all residents, in their townwide comings and goings, share with the Garden Club their sightings of this year’s outstanding outdoor presentations.
A garden may be prized for its eye-popping color or its sense of calm and serenity, its form or architectural elements. The manner in which varied flora, fauna and vegetation complement one another, or the unique plant material utilized are characteristics to be considered. Beauty is not weighted by size, so all gardens — whether a tiny island or vast expanse — are equally worthy of consideration.
If you think one of your friend’s or neighbor’s gardens is deserving or accolades (or even your own), call Sheri Turell at 362-5683 or Janet Snowdon at 362-4779 and a Garden Club member will be visit.
