Newton honors longtime officials

NEWTON — Recently retired selectman and former Town Clerk Raymond Thayer and Rep. Mary Allen, R-Newton, will be honored Saturday.

The event, sponsored by the town, is from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Haverhill Country Club.

There will be a buffet and entertainment provided by disc jockey Matt McElroy.

Tickets are $39 and are available at the selectmen’s window at Town Hall.

This bake sale has no calories

LONDONDERRY — The Friends of the Leach Library hosts its seventh annual Cakeless Bake Sale fundraiser, starting today.

All funds will be used to sponsor library programs and services.

The Friends will ask for a donation, but not cakes or cookies.

Figure out who much it would cost to buy the items needed to bake a cake or cookies and send a donation for that amount to support the library.

Donations can be made to: Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library, 276 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, 03052.

Donations can also be made at the library.

Supervisors of the Checklist to meet

NEWTON — The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet Saturday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Town Hall.

They will be available to add new voters, make changes to current voters, change party, name or address.

Head to Kingston for Penny Sale

KINGSTON — The Kingston Veterans Club Auxiliary will host a Penny Sale Saturday at the club, 36 Church St.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and the drawing starts at 5:30 p.m.

There are more than 200 prizes. Tickets are 25 for $1, but blue ticket item tickets are six for $5.

There will be hot dogs, nachos and more, and a bake sale, too.

Bake sale to benefit SIDS research

SANDOWN — A bake sale Saturday will raise money for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research.

The sale, hosted by the Gondolfo family, whose daughter died of SIDS, will be at Town Hall from noon to 3 p.m.
