Visit a blue heron rookery

HAMPSTEAD — Linda Ross will be hosting a hike to the blue heron rookery Thursday.

Hikers will pass the covered bridge featured on the cover of Hampstead’s 2014 town report, then on to the rookery. Bring waterproof boots, bug/tick spray, hiking stick, binoculars, and a camera if you like.

The hike will begin at 1 p.m. and take about an hour and a half, leaving from the Golden Meadow cul-de-sac in Hampstead. For more information, contact Linda at LMGRoss49@yahoo.com.

Asian Center offering children’s summer program

LAWRENCE – The Asian Center of Merrimack Valley Inc., 1 Ballard Way, is accepting enrollments for a summer enrichment program for children ages 4 through 12, those entering preschool through grade 7 in the fall. The program runs from July 7 through Aug. 1. All are welcome to apply for either a morning program 9 a.m. to noon or an afternoon program from noon to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $290 for mornings; $420 for afternoons only and $680 for full day. Increase your car IQ at Plaistow library

PLAISTOW — A higher car IQ can help an owner save hundreds of dollars now and throughout the life of an auto loan.

Come to Plaistow Public Library on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for an event that will help attendees become more skilled in a number of car buying-related areas. Those areas include negotiating the purchase and trade-in prices, getting the right financing and understanding the “extras” in a purchase.

The event is hosted by the library, in partnership with Merrimack Valley Credit Union. It is tailored to young and first-time car buyers and parents, and anyone wishing to sharpen their car-buying skills.
