Woman struck after car breaks down on I-93

SALEM — A New Hampshire woman was injured Sunday night after she got out of a broken down vehicle on Interstate 93 and was struck by a passing vehicle, state police said.

Jessica Kimball, 25, of Manchester was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry with non life-threatening injuries. She was listed in stable condition yesterday, a hospital spokesman said.

Kimball left her 2008 Subaru in the breakdown lane on the northbound side of the highway in Salem just before 8:30 p.m. and was struck by a 2006 Saab driven by Gayle Baker, 49, of Windham, police said.

No charges have been filed.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor, police said.

Traffic through the northbound lanes was restricted for about three hours as police investigated the crash.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact state police Troop B at (603) 666-3333.
