---- — HAMPSTEAD — The holiday parade is Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Holiday Lane.
The theme is “12 Days of Christmas.” Participants will line up at 12:30 p.m. and the parade ends on Main Street at Emerson Avenue. Trophies for the winning floats will then be awarded at the fire station.There will also be hot chocolate, cookies and a visit from Santa Claus.
The parade is sponsored by the Hampstead Firemen’s Association.
Anyone who would like to participate can get download a registration form from the fire department’s page on the town’s website, Hampsteadnh.us. The deadline to register is this Saturday.
Pets can visit with Santa at Salem mall
SALEM — Pets will have a chance to sit on Santa’s lap when he visits The Mall at Rockingham Park on Sunday.
Pets can meet Santa between 7 and 8:30 p.m.
Animals and their owners should enter the mall on Level 1 near Macy’s.
Juried craft fair
has lots to offer
HAMPSTEAD — The Hampstead Congregational Church’s Christmas Fair opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and closes at 3 p.m.
The fair, at 61 Main St., will feature jewelry, woodworking, quilted items, artwork, pottery, knitted items and more.
There also will be a cookie walk, bake table and luncheon.
Celebrate Christmas Fair is Saturday
KINGSTON — First Congregational Church offers Celebrate Christmas Fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church on Church Street.
The fair will feature crafts, baked goods, jams and jellies, a white elephant table, silent auction and more.
There will be children’s activities, including Bethlehem bingo, and lunch will be served.

PELHAM – The John H. Hargreaves Memorial VFW Post 10722 has announced winners of its 2013 Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen Essay and Teacher of the Year contests.
Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest winners included Celina Walker, Pelham home-schooled, post level winner; Joseph Minichiello, Pelham High, post runner-up; Joshua Hebert, Windham High.
Patriot’s Pen winners included Jacob Brown, Pelham Memorial School, post level winner, and Caitlyn Ferreira, St. Patrick’s School.
Teacher of the Year winners included Robin Andrews, Pelham Elementary, and Lynne Stader, St. Patrick’s School, both post and district level winners. Joe Mundy, Pelham High, was a post level winner. Paul Santerre, Pelham Memorial School, was post level runner-up.
Get answers to Medicare questions
HAMPSTEAD — On Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., a representative from ServiceLink of Rockingham County will be at Hampstead Public Library to answer questions about Medicare.
If you or a loved one are new to Medicare, or will be going on Medicare soon, this meeting is for you.
Workshop topics include: understanding the basics of Medicare, prescription drug coverage, Medicare supplements and preventing fraud.

Sandwich and soup luncheon set
EAST HAMPSTEAD — A Public Soup and Sandwich Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Hampstead Union Church, 225 E. Main St., Route 121A, just south of Route 111.
Offerings include a variety of soups and sandwiches, chips, pickles, assorted beverages and desserts.
The suggested donation of $5 per person supports the Operating Fund. The site is chair-lift accessible. Take-out meals are available.
The church is an interdenominational Christian Fellowship serving the community since 1897. All are welcome.
