Police arrest same man twice in two days

SALEM — A man arrested at the mall Friday was arrested again Saturday, this time at La Quinta Inn and Suites.

Sean Irish, 35, with a last known address of Salem, Mass., was arrested at 10:19 p.m. Friday in the parking lot at the Mall at Rockingham Park.

Police were called to the lot for a report of a disoriented man wandering around, looking into vehicles there, Deputy police Chief Shawn Patten said.

Police located Irish and immediately called Salem Fire Rescue to respond because of his condition.

Responding officers found a small amount of prescription drugs on Irish, but also evidence he may have swallowed as many as 80 pills in a short amount of time, Patten said.

He was checked out by emergency personnel, then advised he was under arrest. Irish then struggled with police before he was taken into custody. He was verbally abusive to police throughout the booking process, Patten said, but eventually was released on $1,000 cash bail.

The next day, police were called to La Quinta for a report of a man who was refusing to pay or leave.

When police arrived, they found Irish at the hotel. This time, he was booked without incident, but police found a small amount of marijuana on his person during the process. For his arrest Saturday, Irish was released on $500 cash bail.

Between the two incidents, Irish faces five charges, one a felony.

His charges include felony possession of a controlled drug, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and criminal trespassing.
