HAVERHILL — The League of Women Voters of Greater Haverhill is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates Night” Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Haverhill Public Library, 99 Main St.
Every candidate for state representative or state Senate running in the Nov. 6 election to represent a district which includes Haverhill has been invited to participate. The moderator will be from the North Andover chapter of the League of Women voters. The format will include an introductory two-minute presentation by each candidate, followed by written questions submitted by the audience at the beginning of the evening. A committee of league members will select a wide-ranging group of questions from those submitted.

Genealogy course offered in Haverhill
HAVERHILL — This fall, Northern Essex Community College’s Life Long Learning Program will offer a Genealogy 101 course with Marcelle Greenbaum of Haverhill.
This course will be taught on Mondays, from 10 a.m. to noon, from Oct. 15 through Nov. 12 in the Hartleb Technology Center, Room TC205 on the college’s Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St. Cost of the class is $30.
Genealogy 101 will help participants learn about their own history by getting them started on a family tree. In class, participants will learn how to construct a family tree, keep all their new information organized, find ancestors in other countries, and preserve their family’s history and heritage for life. At the end of the class, participants will each have their own family tree as well as a better understanding of their family history.
Life Long Learning is a program of lectures, study groups, and trips for adults. All programs are open to the public.
