SANDOWN — The Sandown Police Department will hosting a Community Forum ("Did You Know?") March 28.
They will present facts and information on the prescription drug abuse epidemic.
This issue is affecting every aspect of people's lives regardless of whether they have a family member or friend suffering from addiction. The disease has no social boundaries. The problem is becoming so significant that health and mental care specialists, law enforcement and educators are overwhelmed by the increasing numbers of addicted individuals, according to Sandown police.
Statistics show a direct criminal impact from substance abuse, police said.
A panel of experts will be available for questions and answers.
Participants include: Peter Stone, master licensed alcohol drug counselor from MyDiscover Inc.; Brian Cressy, licensed alcohol drug counselor from A Second Chance; Dr. Louise Morin-Davy, Center for Life Management; Timothy Lena, student assistance program coordinator, Timberlane Regional High School; Kelley Binette, student assistance counselor, Timberlane Middle School; Janet Stammely, admissions manager, Hampstead Hospital; attorney Kevin Coyle, prosecutor; and Sgt. Aurie Roy, Sandown police.
