---- — LONDONDERRY — A hotel night manager was robbed at gunpoint just past 4:15 a.m. yesterday.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and a donation container for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, police said.

Police were called to the Sleep Inn at 72 Perkins Road for a reported armed robbery.

The male suspect used a silver semiautomatic pistol in the holdup. He was described as between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 170 and 190 pounds.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers. A black plastic mask covered the lower half of his face. He carried a black backpack.

Police believe he fled the scene in a vehicle.

The hotel is just off Route 28, minutes from Interstate 93.

Detectives were investigating yesterday.

“It appears he got in a vehicle and headed north on Route 28,” Lt. Ryan Kearney said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Scott Balukonis at 432-1118.
