Devine tops ticket in District 4

SANDOWN — James Devine of Sandown was the top vote getter in a seven-way race for five seats in Rockingham House District 4.

Devine, a Republican, received 4,468 votes. The four other Republican candidates were also elected. Democrats Charlotte Ann Lister of Chester and Kelly Upham-Torosian of Auburn were defeated.

The other winners were Joseph Hagan of Chester, 4,507 votes; Gene Charron of Chester, 4,471; Stella Tremblay of Auburn, 4,460; and Daniel Dumaine of Auburn, 3,927. Lister received 3,395 votes while Upham-Torosian got 3,210.

Devine, 71, has been a Republican member of the House since 2006. Rockingham District 4 represents Sandown, Auburn and Chester.

Before the recent redistricting, Devine represented District 7, including Sandown, Chester and Danville. He served on the Science, Technology and Energy Committee during the last session.
