LONDONDERRY — It was a close race, but Democrat Christopher Pappas of Manchester pulled ahead to win the District 4 Executive Council seat over Republican Robert Burns.
Preliminary results show Pappas received 43,062 votes and Burns had 39,178.
Although Burns received the endorsement of Raymond Wieczorek, former Executive Councilor and mayor of Manchester, he did not manage to close the gap on Pappas.
Wieczorek did not seek re-election.
According to Huck Montgomery, Pappas's campaign manager, Burns called to concede early this morning.
Burns noted how GOP gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamontagne and presidential candidate Mitt Romney also lost.
"Misery loves company," he said.
District 4 includes Auburn, Bedford, Candia, Derry, Hooksett, Hudson, Litchfield, Londonderry, Manchester, Pelham and Raymond.
"It's over and done with," Montgomery said.
