Program tracks N.H.'s wildlife history

LONDONDERRY — Leach Library will host “New Hampshire’s Wild History: 350 Years of New Hampshire Wildlife” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

This program will be presented by Ann Welsh, a volunteer from the UNH Cooperative Extension’s “Speaking for Wildlife” project.

She will take participants on a virtual journey through New Hampshire’s more recent history, with a focus on changes in the land and how wildlife populations have responded over time.

The program is free to the public with limited seating to the first 100 people. It will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room. Light refreshments will be served.

Salem Democrats host scholarship breakfast

SALEM — The Salem Democratic Committee invites area residents to its annual scholarship breakfast Saturday.

The pancake breakfast begins at 9 a.m. at Triumphant Cross Church on Zion Hill Road.

The committee’s $500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a Salem High School senior. Guest speakers will be Congresswoman Anne Kuster, D-N.H., and House Speaker Terie Norelli, D-Portsmouth.

The suggested donation is $5 for senior citizens and $15 for others. Proceeds go toward scholarships and the committee.

Officer available to help veterans, families

ATKINSON — ServiceLink Resource Center of Rockingham County announced that a New Hampshire Veterans Service Officer is available to meet with veterans, and/or their dependents, or caregivers at the ServiceLink office on Wednesdays.

The Veterans Service Officer will provide information, direction and assistance to veterans, surviving spouses and their families with topics such as available state benefits, disability compensation and pension, survivor’s benefits, burial benefits, education benefits, the state veterans cemetery and the N.H. Veterans Home.

The officer can assist in filing claims and provides support throughout the claims process. Call ServiceLink at 603-893-9769 to schedule an appointment. ServiceLink is located at 8 Commerce Drive, Unit 802.
