Summer camps offered at Boys & Girls Club

SALEM — New programs and activities at the Summer Camps of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem are guaranteed to cure summer boredom.

Club Camps include field trips, swim lessons, “Wanna play?” activities, arts and crafts, outdoor and gym games.

A blend of recreational and educational activities is offered to keep youth engaged both physically and mentally.

Summer Camp runs June 24 through Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop-off and pick-up times are from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at no additional cost.

Full day camp for students in grades K-12 is $170 a week.

There are five camps available this summer: part-time Play Group for children 3 to 5 years old, call Maria at Ext. 20 for pricing; full-time Lil’ Explorer’s Camp, students entering kindergarten and first grade; full-time Camp Funtastic, for those entering second through fifth grade; Tween Camp for those entering sixth and seventh grade; and Teen Camp for students entering eighth through 12th grade.

All field trips are included in the weekly camp tuition. Lil’ Explorer’s Camp field trips include: Boston’s Museum of Science, Seacoast Science Center, Hidden Hollow Farm, the Stone Zoo, the Palace Theatre, the USS Constitution, the Christa McCauliffe Planetarium and the Science Museum.

Camp Funtastic field trips include: Canobie Lake Park, Water Country, Liquid Planet, state parks, Boston’s Museum of Science, New England Aquarium and York’s Wild Kingdom.

The Tween & Teen Camp field trips include: Water Country, Canobie Lake Park, Funtown USA, Checkered Flag Indoor Karting, the beach and state parks. Field trips are listed on the website and are subject to change.

In addition, the club also offers specialty camps, open to all members. Those camps include: Junior Golf, Junior Chef, Microsoft “Make your own App,” Running Club, Counselor in Training (for ages 13 years old and up) and more.

The club membership fee is $30 annually. Camp registration is available to active club members only. Youth under age 6 receive free membership.

The fee for each week of camp is $170, with discounts for additional siblings. A nonrefundable deposit of $50 per week is required to reserve a spot.
