---- — MOULTONBOROUGH, N.H. — An Andover, Mass., man and an unidentified 8-year-old girl were injured in a jet ski explosion on Lake Winnipesaukee yesterday afternoon.

Steven Mitton, 56, suffered a broken pelvis while the girl had a head laceration, according to the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol. Both victims were transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.

The explosion happened when the operator tried to start the vessel, according to the Marine Patrol. Both Mitton and the girl were ejected from the jet ski, police said. The incident was reported by a 911 call at 1:45 p.m.

Neither Mitton nor his family could be reached yesterday.
