DERRY — The outcome remained the same for the school district’s teacher assistant contract vote.
A new three-year contract between the school district and its AFSME Council 93/Local 1801 stands approved after a vote recount last night.
Town Councilors Mark Osborne and Tom Cardon pushed for the recount, delivering a petition with a dozen signatures to the school district office last week.
The final vote total, 356-353, showed one additional no vote, due to a challenged ballot that the voting machine did not previously register.
Voters had earlier approved the updated contract, 356-352, June 25.
In March, voters approved the school’s $81 million budget, but shot down a warrant article for the teacher assistants’ contract.
Officials went back into negotiations and came up with a new contract to bring before voters in the special election.
Thenew three-year agreement gives members a 10-cent raise the first year, 15 cents the second year and 15 cents in the third, costing about $27,000 less than the original agreement.
