N.H. CCD students reach out to others

The fourth-grade class of Abby Giguere and Tatiana King held a Candy Sale and raised $215 for Boston Children’s Hospital. Allie Bedell and Lauren Poirier’s class of 17 students held a Supply Drive and collected 60 items for the United Saints which rebuilds homes in New Orleans still devastated by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina since 2005.

In Grade 5, Hilary Walter and Kerri Madigan’s class of 20 students held an Ice Cream Floats Sale and raised $220 for the One Fund Boston to support Boston Marathon blast victims. Grace Boroche and her son, Daniel Boroche, and their class of 20 students collected Ddnations for U.S. soldiers.

In Grade 6, Donna Hume and Kyana Baiguy’s class of 17 students held a Freeze Pop Sale and raised $282 for Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, which grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Suzanne Poole and Laurie Callery’s class of 16 students collected 25 boxes of cereal and $65 for the Anne-Marie House, as well as 25 boxes of cereal and $65 for the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry.

Adam LaFleur and Nick Capobianco’s class of 18 seventh-graders held a carnival and raised $100 for the One Fund Boston. Also in seventh grade, Caitlin Tanner and Chelsea Austen’s class of 18 students held a Toy/Clothing/Book Collection Drive for St. Gianna’s Clothing Ministry.

In Grade 8, Catherine DeRosa and Erin Ruigrok’s class of 15 students made fleece blankets for Birthright at the Anne-Marie House, which provides caring nonjudgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy. Joanne Troy and Sarah Poole’s class of 15 students ran a Super Saint Day and raised $217.46 for One Fund Boston.

The two week fun-filled faith journey was organized by religious education director Cathy Kinnon and assistant Sally Mitchell.
