Reward issued for information on Plaistow dog shooting

By Alex Lippa

---- — PLAISTOW — There has been no luck finding the person responsible for killing a dog last week.

A reward is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.

Jaycee, an 9-year-old German shepherd mix, was shot and killed last week outside USA 1 Motors. Her owner, Maureen Mahoney, is looking to find who did it and why.

She was working at her former husband’s business at the time and had brought Jaycee to work with her.

“We’ve had some leads, but nothing has come of it yet,” she said.

Mahoney had let Jaycee out on Nov. 18, as she always did when she visited the garage.

When Jaycee didn’t return, Mahoney, ex-husband Joey Curto and son Joey all set out to search for the beloved family pet.

Twenty minutes later, they discovered a horrific scene — Jaycee motionless near the train tracks on Westville Road.

Deputy police Chief Kathleen Jones announced yesterday that Aminda Daviduk, a local Dunkin’ Donuts owner, has offered a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

“She loves animals and has always stood as a voice and an advocate to animals in need,” Jones said in a written statement.

Mahoney also is hoping to raise $1,000 on the website GoFundMe to add to the reward. They had raised $665 as of yesterday.

“We’ve had so many people reach out to us,” Mahoney said. “Everyone’s praying that we find the person.”

Jones said the incident remains under investigation.
