Shoppers head to NH for Thanksgiving night deals

“We don’t know their names, but we see each other every year and that’s what makes it fun,” she said. “We save a buck and help each other doing it. I have six grandchildren. I can’t afford not to be here,” Coupal said.

Many of the people in line had the store’s circular marked with the toys they wanted. Many of the shoppers traveled from cities and towns in Massachusetts including Dracut, Tewksbury, Stoneham, North Reading and Burlington, to save on the sales tax.

Diane and Scott Patnode of Haverhill saved $150 after purchasing toys for their three children ages 13, 10 and 5. Toys R Us was the first stop on their Black Friday shopping spree that will end today.

“It’s better this way because we can just enjoy the holidays,” Scott Patnode said.
