---- — BRENTWOOD — A Salem, N.H., man faces vehicular assault charges for a crash on Route 111 in Danville last year that seriously injured a mother and her 2-year-old son.
Kevin Rodwell, 27, of 16 Tiffany Road, Unit 1, was recently indicted by a Rockingham Superior Court grand jury on two counts of vehicular assault and a single count of reckless conduct for the accident July, 19, 2011. The crash closed a three-mile stretch of Route 111 for nearly four hours.
Tracy Anne Descoteaux, 41, of Brentwood was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital. Her son was flown by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Rodwell was also seriously injured and taken in a separate helicopter to Massachusetts General.
Rodwell’s westbound Mazda Protege crossed the center line and struck Descoteaux’s Elantra head on, police said. An indictment said Rodwell was speeding when he crossed the center line. The speed limit in the area was between 40 mph and 50 mph, police said.
Reckless conduct is a Class B felony, punishable by three and a half to seven years in prison. Vehicular assault is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in the county jail for each count.
