LINCOLN — A tractor trailer took out about 60 feet of guardrail before landing in a stream in the median of Interstate 93 early yesterday morning, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Scotty Grandmaison, 37, of Allenstown fell asleep at the wheel of a 2007 International truck and 28-foot trailer at about 5 a.m. yesterday on I-93 near Exit 33 north, police said.
Gradmasion wasn’t hurt, but his truck was damaged. The truck drifted into the high-speed lane, then struck the guardrail, damaging some 60 feet of it, police said.
The tractor trailer then traveled down an embankment in the median before coming to rest in a stream.
The tractor trailer belongs to Performance Transportation LLC of Augusta, Maine.
The road was dry and clear, police said, and the weather was fine.
Troopers from NHSP Troops F and G responded, as did the state Department of Transportation, the state Department of Environmental Services, and the Lincoln and Woodstock Fire Departments.
The high-speed lane in that area was closed yesterday morning so the tractor trailer could be removed.
