Suspect in Salem assault arrested in Derry

SALEM — A man wanted for an assault March 23 at La Quinta was arrested Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service, with help from Derry police.

Gerald Fraize, 38, of Lowell was arrested at a Derry home on a warrant out of Salem of multiple charges.

On March 23, Salem police were called to La Quinta for a reported assault. The victim told police Fraize strangled and assaulted her in their hotel room. Upon their arrival, police saw a white Mustang, which the victim said belonged to Fraize, leaving the hotel.

Police chased the vehicle onto Interstate 93 south until it was deemed too dangerous and called off.

Fraize is being held on $25,000 cash and is charged with felony second-degree assault, felony reckless conduct, simple assault with bodily injury, criminal mischief, criminal threatening, obstructing the report of a crime, driving after revocation and disobeying a police officer.
