Danville man charged in Salem burglary

SALEM — A Danville man arrested earlier this month on shoplifting and other charges is now charged with planning and executing a burglary at Stachey's Olde Time Pizzeria last month.

William Moschetto, 30, was a former employee of the pizza shop at 517 S. Broadway, police said. The restaurant was broken into Oct. 30 and $3,000 in cash was stolen.

Police detectives found a hammer and pry bar in a nearby trash bin, believed to have been used to force open the rear door of the restaurant.

Moschetto was arrested by Plaistow police and taken to Salem police headquarters for booking. He already was out on $5,000 cash bail on unrelated charges.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and held on $20,000 cash bail pending arraignment. Police said the case is still under investigation and more arrests could be forthcoming.

Moschetto was arrested earlier this month after allegedly trying to steal items from Marshalls in Salem. In that case, Moschetto allegedly ran from the store and drove down Route 28.

Just after the call came in from Marshalls, police received a call from someone reporting car windows being smashed in the Shaw's parking lot.

Police later determined Moschetto made the 911 call in an effort to divert attention from himself, Capt. Shawn Patten said earlier.

He was charged with shoplifting, reckless operation and misuse of 911 in that incident.
