SALEM — The Catholic Parishes of Mary, Queen of Peace and St. Joseph combined forces this past week to prepare 112 food baskets for families in the area who might be in need because of the poor economy.
Baskets were prepared by members of the Youth Group and individual families from both communities. Families "adopted" families and provided all that was needed for the Thanksgiving meal. The baskets comprised approximately 4,500 pounds of food.
St. Joseph and Mary, Queen of Peace parishes are in the process of "twinning" as the first step in becoming one Catholic Church community in Salem on July 1, 2010.
