LONDONDERRY — A woman was injured last night when her car veered off Interstate 93 south and crashed into trees.
The accident occurred about 9:45 p.m., when the driver lost control of her Honda south of Exit 4, according to Capt. Jim Roger of the Londonderry Fire Department.
He said the unidentified 24-year-old woman suffered neck and back injuries but they were not life-threatening.
"She was pretty lucky, though," Roger said. Despite the damage the car received when it struck the trees, rescue workers were able to open the door and did not need to extricate the woman, he said.
She was taken to Elliot Hospital for treatment.
No details on the woman or the crash were available from state police late last night.
Emergency personnel had to take an alternate route to the accident since it was believed the exit was closed because of work being done by the state Department of Transportation, Roger said.
The exit was not closed, and the highway remained open.
