Open house slated at Plaistow health care facility

PLAISTOW — Core Physicians' Plaistow Health & Core Pediatrics will host an open house Jan. 21 to introduce its new family practitioners and pediatricians.

The open house is from 3 to 6 p.m. at 24 Plaistow Road, Suites 2 and 3. Visitors can receive health screenings, take a tour of the newly renovated space, and enjoy light refreshments along with prize drawings and giveaways.

Adults can receive screenings for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol while children can be screened for hearing and vision. There will be free teddy bears for children.

For more information, call 580-6668. If there is inclement weather, the event may be rescheduled for Jan. 26. The health care facility is an affiliate of Exeter Hospital.

Deadline draws near for Salem school petitions

SALEM — The deadline is Tuesday for residents to submit warrant articles to be considered at the school district deliberative session Feb. 4.

The citizens petitions must be signed by at least 25 registered voters from Salem. The petitions may be submitted to the Salem superintendent's office, 38 Geremonty Drive, on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Hampstead library hosts storyteller

HAMPSTEAD — Storyteller Pat Spalding will appear at Hampstead Public Library on Jan. 12.

Spalding's stories for adults will begin at 7 p.m. The free program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Refreshments will be served after the performance. Members of the Friends of the Library are encouraged to remain after the performance for the group's regular meeting.

Quilt program slated in Londonderry

LONDONDERRY — Leach Library will host a program Jan. 14 on the history of American quilt traditions.

This talk, given by Cheryl Savageau at 7 p.m., will cover a variety of traditions, including Amish and Native American, and illustrate examples of each in slide images and quilt samples.

Savageau is a textile artist and founding member of the Oak and Stone Storytellers, as well as the author of the poetry collections "Dirt Road Home" and "Mother/Land," and the picture book "Muskrat Will Be Swimming."

Savageau has received several fellowships and residencies in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Massachusetts Artists Foundation and the MacDowell Colony. Her quilts have been exhibited at the University of New Hampshire in a contemporary native artists exhibit and at the Abbe Museum's Twisting Path exhibit in Bar Harbor, Maine.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library. It is free and will be in the library's lower-level meeting room.

Light refreshments will be served.
