Family Promise helped by Windham book fair

WINDHAM — The Go Green Fair at Windham High School Saturday was a great success.

Kate Farrell, a student at Windham High, was the organizer. There were approximately 40 vendors from Windham, Londonderry and surrounding towns.

Students were there to assist unloading cars and helping vendors set up. Throughout the day there were activities for children, including a movie and a presentation of “The Lorax.”

There was a book fair to benefit Family Promise of Greater Rockingham County. Michelle and Tom McManus, owners of Benchmark Office Systems in Windham, organized the event.

There were more than 4,000 books and more than 400 were sold. Family Promise is a nonprofit organization, based in Derry, that helps homeless children and their families get back on their feet with food, shelter and social services. Terry Pate, a resident of Family Promise, was one of the volunteers for the event.
