---- — CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A former Exeter Hospital technician accused of stealing drugs and infecting patients with hepatitis C has a new, later trial date, though it’s not the one he requested.
A federal judge has moved David Kwiatkowski’s trial date from October to January. Kwiatkowski’s lawyers recently asked for a date in April or later, but prosecutors would only agree to January.
Kwiatkowski who has pleaded not guilty to 14 drug charges, is accused of stealing painkiller syringes from the hospital and replacing them with saline-filled syringes tainted with his own blood.
Thirty-two people in New Hampshire and a dozen in other states have been diagnosed with the same strain of hepatitis C carried by Kwiatkowski.
, who worked at 18 hospitals in seven states before being hired in Exeter in April 2011.
