---- — WINDHAM — The Windham High School archery team is shooting toward victory.

The team is off to a strong start this season. Everyone who participated in the first tournament of the year placed in his or her respective division.

The tournament was at Ace Archers in Foxboro, Mass., on Sept. 22.

The competitors were Captain Marissa Yost, Josh Allen, and coaches Guy Gerig and Sonia Wong.

Marissa placed third, Josh and Gerig placed first, and Wong placed second in their respective divisions.

“It was a great first tournament,” Josh said. “A lot of practice was put into preparing for it and it really showed.”

The team is still fairly new; last year was its first year and it has been growing since. More students have joined and even more team members are planning on competing this year.

“Competing can be stressful at first, but when you get used to it you have a lot of fun and meet a lot of new people that really know what they’re doing,” Marissa said.

The next tournament is coming up in November. The team hopes to do even better in competitions to come and make it to Indoor Nationals.
