---- — KINGSTON — Russell Prescott is seeking a fourth term in the state Senate.
The Republican incumbent will face off against Democrat and fellow Kingston resident Carol Croteau to represent District 23. The election is Nov. 6.
Prescott served in the Senate from 2000 to 2004, then was elected for a third term in 2010, when he defeated Maggie Hassan, who is now running for governor.
Prescott defeated Dennis Acton of Fremont in the primary Sept. 11. He received 3,411 votes to 1,018 for Acton, or 77 percent to 23 percent.
Croteau, a Democrat, ran unopposed in September. She ran for a House seat in 2010, but was defeated.
District 23 includes Brentwood, Chester, Danville, East Kingston, Epping, Exeter, Fremont, Kingston and Sandown.
