Taste of Greater Salem tickets are on sale

ATKINSON — The annual Taste of Greater Salem will be Wednesday, May 15, at Atkinson Resort and Country Club.

The event, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., offers a variety of food samples from nearly 20 local restaurants and other businesses.

Taste of Greater Salem is sponsored by the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise Bank. A portion of the proceeds benefits the chamber’s scholarship program and Interview Challenge.

Apply soon for juried craft fair

PLAISTOW — Crafters and artists now have until May 30 to apply to the St. Luke the Evangelist Parish juried Craft Fair on Nov. 9.

Work must be original and executed by the applicants. Crafters accepted through the jury process will be assigned excellent placements in the hall. The Christmas Craft Fair takes place at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish (Holy Angels Parish Center) on Atkinson Depot Road (Route 121). Up to 30 outstanding juried crafters and artists will be supplemented with live entertainment, children’s activities and St. Luke’s famous homemade Cookie Heaven. All proceedsbenefit the ministries of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish.

Registration starts for Windham art camp

WINDHAM — Registration starts tomorrow for “Art Explosion” camp in Windham.

The program for boys and girls in grades one to six is set for July 22-26.

Register for AARP driver safety class

SALEM — Ingram Senior Center at 1 Sally Sweets Way will host an AARP driver safety class on Monday and Wednesday, May 20 and 22, from noon to 4 p.m. each day.

The class includes information on defensive driving techniques and age-related changes to vision, hearing, reaction time and much more. Other topics covered are anti-lock brakes, air bags and safety belts.

The course is a combination of class discussion and videos. Several insurance companies offer discounts to customers after taking this class.

There are no tests.

The class is open to any age driver, but is geared to people over 50.

The fee is $14, $12 for AARP members. To register, call 890-2190.
