A Bowl-a-Thon in memory of Zack Zalewski of Groveland will be held on May 31 at 6 p.m. at Leo’s Super Bowl, 84 Haverhill Road (Route 110) in Amesbury.
Participants may form their own five-person team or simply register and be assigned to a team. The event will include a silent auction, raffle prizes, music, food and beverages. Tickets, $25 for adults and $5 for children include two strings of bowling, shoes and pizza. All proceeds go to the Zack Zalewski Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 2012 in memory of Zack, who lost his life in a car accident in Haverhill in February 2012.
His parents, Ed and Cindy Zalewski, want to extend their son’s love of giving by offering two scholarships in his name — the first to a Pentucket Regional High School senior who exemplifies Zack’s exuberance and charismatic spirit, and the second to a deserving Bagnall Elementary School student who wishes to attend the ski and snowboard program at Ski Bradford, where Zack taught snowboarding.
Zack was a 2008 graduate of Pentucket Regional High School, where he was an integral member of the Sachems football team. He graduated from Northern Essex Community College with a degree in liberal arts. Only 22 at the time of his death, Zack touched many people during his short life. A true and loyal friend, he was always there to lend a hand to a friend or family member in need, and always ready with a joke and a warm smile, his parents said.
