PLAISTOW — AARP will be holding free tax preparations at the Vic Geary Senior Center, 18 Greenough Road.
Trained volunteers will be at the center every Wednesday and every other Monday, from 9 a.m. to noon, between Feb. 6 and April 14.
These tax assistance and preparation sessions are free and are open to all low-and moderate income individuals.
Appointments are required. Call Joyce at the center at 382-9276 for an appointment. Bring 2012 tax records, previous 2011 tax returns, and a check or account number.

Seats open on Fishery Council
DURHAM — The National Marine Fisheries Service announced vacancies for New Hampshire’s obligatory seat and two at-large seats for the New England Fishery Management Council.
The Fish and Game Department’s Marine Fisheries Division will host a candidates’ interview night on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth.
Potential candidates must be prepared to present their qualifications at the session. Interested candidates should contact Doug Grout, chief of Marine Fisheries for the N.H. Fish and Game Department, at 868-1095.
The public is invited to attend the session and will be provided an opportunity to ask questions of any candidate.
Mall hosts winter carnival Jan. 26
SALEM — The Mall at Rockingham Park presents the Kidgits Winter Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It’s an afternoon of family fun featuring seasonal crafts and activities. Crafts include mitten wreaths, snow measuring sticks, sand art, snowflake creations and mug decorating.
It all takes place at the Lord & Taylor Court, Level 2, in the mall at 99 Rockingham Park Blvd.
Admission is free for Simon Kidgits Club Members. Nonmembers can sign up for a $5 annual fee at the Guest Services Center. All proceeds benefit the Simon Youth Foundation.
