LAWRENCE – The Samaritans of Merrimack Valley is offering a free training focusing on suicide prevention among people ages 55 and older, March 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Marguerite’s House Assisted Living, 189 Maple St.
The program is geared targeted for people who through their personal, professional or volunteer activities, have regular contact with older adults.
Through the training, participants will be able to assess an older adult’s suicide risk, intervene with an individual at risk and connect them with ongoing professional help. The program is funded by the Department of Public Health.

Fill up on spaghetti Saturday night
EAST HAMPSTEAD — A Spaghetti Supper will be held on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at East Hampstead Union Church, 225 E. Main St. (Route 121A) just south of Route 111.
The menu will be spaghetti, Italian meatballs and sauce, salad, rolls, assorted desserts and beverages.
The cost for the meal is $7 for adults, $3 for children under 12, with no charge for preschoolers.
The church is chair-lift accessible. Take-out meals are available.
Proceeds will benefit the operating fund of this historic church.
