Police: Armed man releases woman hostage in NH

MIDDLETON, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire police say a stand-off with an armed man who took a woman hostage and barricaded himself in a home in Middleton has ended without incident.

Foster’s Daily Democrat reports that police took the suspect into custody minutes after 5 p.m., shortly after the woman was allowed to leave the home.

After the stand-off ended, Middleton middle school students who attend school in Farmington were allowed to leave the school and go home. They had been kept there as a precaution.

Middleton Police Sgt. Jason Lamontagne said the incident started around 2 p.m. when police were told a man had broken into his brother’s home and stolen multiple guns.
