---- — BRENTWOOD — Trials have been scheduled for a Plaistow couple charged in the severe beating of a young boy.
Roland Dow, 27, is to appear for trial April 29 in Rockingham Superior Court. His girlfriend and the 4-year-old victim’s mother, Jessica Linscott, goes on trial June 3, according to court records.
The couple were arrested at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., following a two-week manhunt. They abandoned the badly beaten child at Exeter Hospital on Nov. 16 and hid out in Haverhill before traveling to Florida.
Dow has pleaded not guilty to charges he burned the little boy’s wrist and fingers and hit him, causing a brain injury that led to seizures and temporary blindness. He is being held at the county jail on $500,000 bail.
Linscott, who also remains incarcerated, is charged with failing to protect her son from Dow.
Dow faces a first-degree assault charge and two charges of second-degree assault. Each charge carries a potential 30-year prison sentence and the possibility of a fine up to $4,000. Dow also faces five charges for endangering the welfare of a child. Each charge comes with a one-year maximum sentence and up to a $1,000 fine.
Linscott was charged with six misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Each charge is punishable by up to a year in jail.
